Dr. Sandy Brim

I am a clinical psychologist, having obtained a Ph.D.in Psychology in 1979 as well as a Masters degree after completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology. I have been in private practice since being licensed in California in 1981 and licensed in Arizona in 1996. I have worked in several psychiatric hospitals, practiced in several clinics, was a counselor on the Navajo Reservation, ran groups for court ordered domestic violence patients, and taught several Doctoral-level classes at Northern Arizona University. All of these various settings have allowed me to experience many roles as a psychologist. However, I am most comfortable in private practice where I work with children of all ages, couples and adults. I enjoy the freedom of private practice to be creative and explore alternative options.

On a more personal note, I relocated to LA to live near family and to enjoy a new lifestyle. I have been in leadership positions in various organizations in the community.  I did two terms as a member of the Governing Council for the Arizona Psychological Association and I was president of the Northern Arizona Psychological Society for over 10 years. I enjoy giving back to my profession and networking with my colleagues. I have also been president of various other non-profit organizations such as a local theater and a charter school, and I created a non-profit organization of my own to help create a teen center. I am open to experiencing what comes next for me in LA.

I have enjoyed many successes in my practice. I attended an American Psychological Association  (APA) approved graduate school, an APA approved pre-doctoral internship with children and families, and an APA approved post-doctoral internship with adults and addicts. I learned the basics of how to be a therapist, but over the years of pursuing my own personal growth and growing my skills, I have learned many new tools and learned to trust my intuition in my interaction with my clients. My philosophy is to address limiting beliefs to help people find a new perspective on the choices they make so they can live more fully integrated lives that include improved relationships with everyone and find more freedom from the issues that have plagued them in the past.
